Getting started

  1. In the app, open Settings: choose which products can start a team order (every product, or the products and collections you pick), the personalisation members fill in (for example "Name to print", up to 12 characters in capitals, and "Number", up to 2 digits), how long team orders stay open, the most members and the minimum number of items.
  2. On the app home, click Add block in theme editor. The theme editor opens on a product page with the Team order block ready; place it where you like and click Save. No theme code is changed. The block only shows on products you allowed.
  3. Try it: open an eligible product, click Start a team order, open the team link in another window and add yourself.

How a team order works

  • The organiser clicks Start a team order on a product page, names the team, picks a closing date (the end of that day in your store's time zone) and who pays. They get a team link to share and a private manage link. On their manage page they see who joined, the sizes, can close or reopen, change the date, remove entries, add up to 3 of your eligible products, and go to checkout.
  • Members open the team link (/apps/team/… on your store, inside your theme), pick options and quantities, type their first name and your personalisation fields. In organiser-pays team orders they get a private link to change or remove their entry until it closes.
  • Organiser pays: when the organiser clicks Go to checkout (it closes the team order), their cart is filled with every member's item, each with the member's details as line item properties, and they pay in your normal checkout. If their cart already had other items they choose to remove or keep them.
  • Each pays (Plus): a member's items go into their own cart and they check out as usual. The organiser's page and the app show who has paid, once Shopify has approved the app's access to order data.

On the order

Each item carries line item properties: the member's first name, the team order's name and each personalisation field (the property names are set in Settings). Two hidden properties starting with an underscore (_mint_team, _mint_entry) link the item to the team order; Shopify hides underscore properties at checkout, and most themes hide them in the cart. On Pro and Plus, Export CSV on a team order gives one row per item with SKU, quantity and personalisation for production.

Team discounts (Plus)

Set tiers such as 5% off from 10 items and 10% off from 25 under Team discounts. The app creates one automatic discount in your Shopify discounts that applies at checkout to the team's items, using the highest tier their total quantity reaches. It applies to organiser-paid team orders (one checkout for the team); in each-pays team orders every member checks out separately, so there's no team total to apply it to. Lines are signed by the app, so editing a cart can't unlock it.

Good to know

  • A team order can have up to 200 cart lines (Shopify carts hold up to 500). Shopify's add-to-cart limit per product (Settings → Checkout) also applies: if a big team orders many of one item and the organiser's checkout reports a limit, raise it there.
  • Everything happens in Shopify's normal cart and checkout: tax, shipping, payment methods and your other discounts work as usual.
  • Members see first names only, and only if the organiser keeps the list visible. A word filter (which you can switch off or extend) and length limits apply to everything typed.
  • Reminder emails (Pro and Plus) go only to organisers who type their email and tick the consent box, and each email has a link to stop them.
  • The team pages and the start dialog are in English; the button text and heading on your product page are set in the theme editor.
  • Team orders and their entries are deleted 60 days after they close. Export what you need for production before then.

Plans

Free: 1 open team order at a time with up to 20 members, organiser pays, your personalisation fields, roster and size summary; team pages show a small "Powered by Mint Team Order" line. Pro ($9.99 / month, 7-day free trial): unlimited open team orders with up to 200 members, production CSV, reminder emails, your brand colour, no "Powered by" line. Plus ($19.99 / month, 7-day free trial): everything in Pro, each-pays team orders and team discount tiers. Plans are managed on Shopify's plan page (Plans → Choose a plan / Manage plan) and billed by Shopify.

Changing plans never deletes anything. Moving down from Plus: team discounts stop at checkout (your tiers are kept) and each-pays team orders that are already open keep working until they close. Moving to Free: open team orders keep working; a new one can start once they have closed (Free allows 1 open at a time), and bigger team orders keep every member while new members wait until there are fewer than 20.

Privacy

See our privacy policy and security policy. In short: no accounts and no Shopify customer records; the app keeps what people type on the team pages until 60 days after the team order closes.
